Fortaleza Brazil Experience Dedicated to The Memory Graciela Marino

I Received very sad news upon my arrival to Fortaleza, Brazil a few weeks ago. My family lost Graciela Marino to the complications of removing a brain tumor on November 15th, 2012.

Graciela is my stepmother and father’s beloved wife for almost 30 years. She is also the mother of my half-brother Carlitos and half-sister Rosana. Graciela portrayed so many great attributes that a loving wife and mother could have, yet the one thing that I will most remember her for was that she was such an amazing giver. A giver of love and attention to the needs to others. Graciela Marino was one of the most selfless people I have ever known and she will be sorely missed by all.

There are interesting connections that exist between Graciela and Rosana in which I addressed in a letter that I wrote to my sister Rosana after Graciela’s passing.

I’m sharing it with you here:

Hey sister, How are you? I just got Back yesterday from my two-week trip to Brazil with my girlfriend and her family. I can finally be alone and take some time to connect with you.

I am so sad for what happened to Graciela. I can’t say that I know how you and the rest of the family are feeling right now, but I want you to know that I love you all and know That you will be okay.

Graciela was a great woman for many reasons. She gave the best years of her life to our father (Which was no easy task!), she raised you and Carlitos to be a sister and brother to be proud of and was an amazing example of what a caring and loving person could be.

Before you or Carlitos were even born she treated me and Gina like we were her own with much love and respect. I only wish I was able to spend more time with her while she was here. I did what I could with the traveling opportunities I had between 2007 and 2009 to visit all my known living family across North and South America.

Graciela’s Last episode with us made me even more so realize the interesting connection there was between the 3 of us in particular. Her giving birth to you on my birthday following my near death head trauma and now exactly 20 years later her going through a similar surgery.

There are so many different ways you can look at these “Coincidences” if you want to call it that and ask questions that really have no definite answer. First off why was I able to survive such a traumatic injury 20 years ago that most people die from? Why were you born on my next birthday? Was that a sign of some sort or coincidence? Why was it that a non-emergency surgery in a controlled environment was not successful for Graciela? Maybe she was an angel born into human flesh to help us out for short time, I just don’t know. I can’t tell you how long I’ve been thinking about you coming into this world when you did and now this.

I couldn’t say anymore about Graciela that you don’t already know, but I wanted you to know that I acknowledge your mother for the love and light that she is and will forever be in my heart.

Love,

Sandro

In this post, I just want to remind you to go out of your way to take action on showing your friends and family how much you care about them. At the very least make a point to connect via Skype or some other form of live communication. It’s now free and so easy to connect with anyone almost anywhere with the internet.

So whether you have not spoken to some of your family members for a long time, have fought about something the last time you spoke or you don’t think that you have anything important to share, it really doesn’t matter in the end. So please don’t let another day, week, month or year go by before you tell your loved ones that you love them, you miss them and ask them how they’re doing? That contact will surely make their day.

Namaste
